Greetings,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to my VLA science course. I am Ms. Kishla Holland and I will be your science teacher this school year. I come to you with a variety of experience to include over 20 years of teaching in Washington DC and multiple districts in Virginia. I hope to collaborate with students, parents, and other educators to help all students become socially and academically successful, especially within the realm of S.T.E.M. education. I look forward to working with you and building meaningful relationships via virtual learning.

Navigating the course

On the left side of this page, you'll find your navigation options for this course. A brief explanation of each is below:

Home: The Home navigation link will bring you back to this page.
Announcements: Regular course news and announcements will be posted to this page. The most recent announcements may also appear on the course home page.
Modules: This is the most important link in your course! The Modules page is where you'll spend the vast majority of your time; all course content and assignments can be found here.
Grades: Keep an eye on your progress in the course by reviewing the Gradebook in Synergy daily. This will show you if you have submitted an assignment (or not), have received feedback and/or a grade.
StudentVUE: Remember, that StudentVUE is still the official gradebook and should be you main source for determining your progress; you can find your current grade, as well as any missing assignments there.

From your Canvas Dashboard, on the right side of the page, you'll find two lists. A brief explanation of each is below:

To Do: The "To Do" list on the right lists assignments, discussions, etc. that you need to complete.
Recent Feedback: The items listed under recent feedback have recently been reviewed by your teacher. Make sure to check there for comments on your work as well as information about resubmitting assignments if necessary.
